The head of state congratulated Feridun Sinirlioğlu on his appointment as Secretary General of the OSCE.
Feridun Sinirlioğlu expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and emphasized that the South Caucasus is one of the important regions on the OSCE’s agenda.
Congratulating the progress made in drafting a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the OSCE Secretary General noted that discussions are ongoing regarding the normalization of relations between the two countries.
The guest also touched upon cooperation projects being implemented between the OSCE and Azerbaijan.
Stressing that the time has long come to abolish the OSCE Minsk Group — which has completely failed to resolve the past Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict — along with all its affiliated institutions, the head of state reiterated that Armenia must also take steps in this direction. President Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan has fully ensured its territorial integrity and sovereignty through both military and political means, thereby securing the application of the norms and principles of the Helsinki Final Act and international law in the South Caucasus.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on various areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OSCE.
