The Nora B-52NG, developed by Serbian defense company Yugoimport SDPR, is a cutting-edge wheeled self-propelled howitzer equipped with a 155mm/52-caliber gun. It is designed for compatibility with the standard NATO 155mm ammunition, offering Azerbaijan a versatile and potent artillery option. The howitzer is capable of firing Extended Range Full Bore (ERFB) and Base Bleed (BB) projectiles, achieving distances of up to 30 kilometers with standard rounds and approximately 42 kilometers with ERFB-BB rounds, thus extending its operational effectiveness.
A key advantage of the Nora B-52NG lies in its mobility. Built on a robust wheeled chassis, it allows for swift deployment and repositioning, crucial in modern warfare. The system’s unmanned turret can be mounted on various 8×8 trucks, such as KAMAZ, MAN, or FAP, enhancing logistical flexibility and terrain adaptability.
Moreover, the Nora B-52NG features advanced fire control and targeting systems that enhance its operational efficiency and accuracy. These systems support quick target acquisition, automate the laying process, and integrate with contemporary communication and command systems, embodying modern network-centric warfare principles.
The acquisition of the Nora B-52NG underscores Azerbaijan’s dedication to maintaining a technological edge on the battlefield. With its formidable firepower, extended range, high mobility, and sophisticated control systems, the howitzer is a significant addition to Azerbaijan’s military capabilities. The Nora B-52NG’s reliability and adaptability are further evidenced by its service in several countries, including Serbia, Kenya, Cyprus, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
