AzTV issued a statement in this regard.
The statement notes that employees of state television were attacked while filming in France. As a result, the correspondent and cameraman received minor bodily injuries. The attackers took away the camera and broke it. When the Azerbaijanis demanded that the camera be returned, they were threatened with weapons.
“The Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC strongly condemns the incident, considering what happened not only as an attack on Azerbaijani journalists, but also as a general suppression of freedom of speech and free journalistic activity. We demand that the French law enforcement agencies objectively investigate the incident, identify and punish those who committed the armed attack on journalists, and take the necessary measures to compensate for the damage,” the statement reads.
“We strongly condemn the attack on Azerbaijani journalists of AzTV in France,” the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Azerbaijan tweeted.
“We expect that this heinous attack against journalists will be investigated by French law enforcement agencies in a short period of time, criminals will be identified and punished,” the ministry said.
