“Azerbaijan indeed supplies us, or rather, sells us fuel – billions of cubic meters of gas, and thanks to the agreement signed this year, we will see a significant increase in volumes – 8-12 billion cubic meters. I can assure you that no political concessions were made in return. The President of the European Commission personally traveled to Azerbaijan for negotiations on this deal. This will provide us with the energy resources that are much needed for Europeans this winter,” Borrell stated.
Borrell: The European Union has no plans to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan
According to the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the Union, Josep Borrell, the EU is not considering sanctions against Azerbaijan, including the cancellation or freezing of the gas contract.
