“I’ve already mentioned that several countries are seeking full membership. This issue will be reviewed over the coming year,” Lavrov said in an interview with the international network TV BRICS.
For context, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ayhan Hajizade announced in August that Azerbaijan had officially submitted its application to join BRICS.
Lavrov also noted that more than thirty countries are interested in participating in BRICS events. Additionally, over ten nations have received broad support from BRICS members as potential partners, with invitations extended accordingly.
“We have an agreement that, once we receive a response from an invited country, we will announce that it has joined BRICS as a partner country. We anticipate they will be able to participate in all BRICS events,” the minister added.
