During the phone call, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union. In this context, renewable energy sources, transportation links, energy security, and other areas of cooperation were mentioned.
The importance of the Memorandum of Understanding on a strategic partnership in the field of energy, signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union in 2022, was emphasized during the conversation.
It was mentioned that COP29, which will be held in Baku under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan, has created favorable opportunities for cooperation in the field of climate action and green transition.
The President of the European Commission stressed that the European Union is ready to support Azerbaijan in humanitarian demining activities.
The phone call also addressed the issue of a trilateral meeting to be held in Brussels on April 5. As discussed with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President Ilham Aliyev expressed the Azerbaijani side’s position regarding this meeting and highlighted the importance of regional inclusiveness.
