According to the Azerbaijani news outlet Minval.az, the trial of several Armenian citizens, including Araik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, David Ishkhanyan, David Babayan, and Levon Mnatsakanyan, continued today in Baku. The defendants are charged with crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including the preparation and waging of aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and numerous other offenses resulting from Armenia’s military aggression.
The court session was attended by some victims, their legal successors, and representatives, as well as prosecutors representing the state. Rufat Mammadov, the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers’ Apparatus, participated as a victim representing the Azerbaijani state.
During the trial, Vusal Aliyarov, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General, stated that from early 2001 to the end of May 2021, various weapons and military equipment were secretly transported from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia. These included the Iskander-M operational-tactical ballistic missile, Tochka-U tactical missile system, 9K33 Osa self-propelled surface-to-air missile system, S-8 unguided air-to-surface rockets, Smerch multiple rocket launchers, TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower systems, Igla-S man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), Konkurs and Kornet anti-tank guided missile systems, RPG-26 rocket-propelled grenade launchers, as well as other large-caliber firearms, components, ammunition, explosives, and devices.
This weaponry, according to the prosecution, was deployed by Armenia during its military aggression against Azerbaijan. It was used from illegally constructed engineering and fortification positions on Azerbaijani territories that were previously under occupation.
