Foreign Ministers of Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia sign Istanbul Declaration

The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia signed the Istanbul Declaration following the 10th trilateral meeting of foreign ministers held in Istanbul, according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The document was signed by Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili, and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

In the declaration, the sides reaffirmed their mutual support for sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders, while also emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation in transport, energy and trade.

Particular attention was paid to the role of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor in ensuring Europe’s energy security, as well as the significance of the Middle Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.

The parties noted the importance of strengthening regional peace, security and stability in order to fully unlock the potential of the South Caucasus, and underlined the positive role of the three countries in this process.

The ministers also highly praised Azerbaijan’s contribution to hosting the World Urban Forum, WUF13, and expressed support for Türkiye’s COP31 presidency.

Following the meeting, it was decided that the next, 11th meeting of foreign ministers will be held in Georgia in 2027.
