As reported by trend.az, the 9th edition of Italian Design Day in the World took place at ADA University in Baku, focusing on this year’s theme: “Inequalities – Design for a Better Life.” The event was organized by the Italian Embassy in Baku, in collaboration with the local ICE office, ADA University, and the Politecnico di Milano, aiming to highlight the role of territories in driving sustainable development.
The 9th edition of the Italian Design Day (IDD) took place today at ADA University in Baku today. In line with the main theme of this year IDD, “Inequalities – Design for a Better Life” the Embassy of Italy in Baku, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, ADA University, and Politecnico di Milano, held a conference highlighting the potential of territories as drivers for sustainable development.
In his institutional address, Ambassador Luca Di Gianfrancesco emphasized the importance of the Italy-Azerbaijan University as a key pillar of bilateral collaboration and he praised Politecnico di Milano for launching the first degree programs of the School of Architecture and Design with ADA University.
As an example of successful bilateral cooperation, the ambassador recalled Simmetrico Network’s projects in Azerbaijan and underlined the crucial role of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
In the context of growing tourism flows and business opportunities between Italy and Azerbaijan, the Ambassador also invited participants to profit of the Baku-Milan direct flights to visit Milan for the 63rdedition of the Salone del Mobile and the 24th TriennaleMilano International Exhibition, whose focus on design as a way to improve life and reduce inequalitiesalso inspired this year’s Italian Design Day. ADA University Vice-Rector, Hon. Fariz Ismailzade, and Prof. Silvia Ferraris, dean of the Faculty of Design and Architecture, also highlighted the academic collaboration opportunities within the Italy-Azerbaijan University initiative.
The main session featured contributions from Prof. Daniela Selloni, Prof. Ponzini, and Prof. Lombardini, representing the Departments of Architecture and Design of the Politecnico di Milano, the President and Creative Director of Simmetrico Network, Daniele Zambelli, recently awarded by the State Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Azerbaijan for thethe Victory Park and Museum in Baku, and Rena Mammadova who presented the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiatives in Azerbaijan and abroad.
