Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has accused the opposition of undermining the peace process with Azerbaijan by reviving separatist narratives and symbols.

Speaking during a government hour in parliament, Pashinyan said that the use of separatist symbols in Armenia’s National Assembly creates a direct risk of renewed confrontation with Azerbaijan.

“This is a threat of war. They are opening this discussion and provoking it. The Karabakh issue is closed,” Pashinyan said.

According to the Armenian prime minister, the opposition’s actions create risks for peace and may destabilize the situation at a sensitive stage of the normalization process.

He stressed that the Armenian authorities are working to prevent destabilization and continue to develop peace through institutional steps.

“We must make efforts to ensure that the situation is not destabilized. We continue to institutionally develop peace,” Pashinyan said.

The prime minister also reiterated that he is ready to travel to Baku in 2027 for the European Political Community summit, if an invitation is extended.
