During the closing session of the conference, the document was presented by Jakub Wojciech Korejba, a senior researcher at the Center for Eurasian Studies.
The document states that more than 200 participants from 51 countries, including members of parliament, public and political figures, civil society activists, and scholars, convened at the conference to discuss the issue of Azerbaijani returnees forcibly expelled from Armenia, as well as the broader global issue of forced displacement.
The participants highlighted that the forced displacement of Azerbaijanis from Armenia remains a significant injustice and a grave violation of human rights.
“The right to return is firmly enshrined in international law and is recognized as a fundamental human right,” the document emphasizes. In this regard, the participants referenced key legal frameworks supporting the right to return, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Pinheiro Principles, and other documents.
