A sensational claim from the US: The insidious plan behind the statement that “Azerbaijan prepares to invade Zangezur”

A recent statement by the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stirred up serious discussions.

Blinken is said to have shared his thoughts regarding the situation in the South Caucasus at a meeting with a group of lawmakers. Politico reports, citing the lawmakers who attended the meeting, that Blinken said Azerbaijan would allegedly invade southern Armenia (Zangezur—Ed.).

According to the publication, Blinken said the US State Department was not planning to renew the waiver (to Section 907) that allows the US to provide military assistance to Baku. You may recall that Section 907 of the United States Freedom Act, which bans any kind of direct US aid to Azerbaijan, was passed at the initiative of the Armenian lobby in 1992. It was passed at a time when the Armenian army was invading and occupying Azerbaijani land, when Armenia was carrying out ethnic cleansing and genocide of Azerbaijanis.

Throughout the thirty-odd years of the conflict, the United States has had a remarkably biased and unfair position towards Azerbaijan, openly demonstrating it on all platforms. Being a Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, it nevertheless always maintained a pro-Armenian stance.

Blinken’s allegations is another evidence of the hypocrisy and double standards of the United Stated. Official Baku keeps saying that it has no such plans, and yet Washington continues its game, intentionally trying to inflame the situation. Peace and tranquility coming to the South Caucasus is obviously a matter of concern to the US. It does not want separatism to be uprooted. There is no other word for it.

Blinken’s allegations are baseless: Azerbaijan has no such plans. President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly said from multiple platforms that our country has no territorial claims against any state. The head of state keeps stressing that our main objective is to get back the lands that were occupied and to achieve peace in the South Caucasus.

Still, despite this firm and transparent position of the Azerbaijani state, the US Secretary of State accuses Baku of expansionist intentions.

Of course, the public knows that all this is part of the game, behind which stand the US-France tandem and the European Union. They are also behind the anti-Azerbaijan resolutions adopted by some UN agencies, European Parliament, and PACE.

If we look at the Israel-Palestine conflict in the Middle East, at the Ukraine-Russia conflict in Europe and other conflicts like these, the true intention of the Americans becomes quite clear.

During his trip to the Middle East, Blinken said that he approached the region as a Jew, not as a secretary of state. This is an unfathomable, absurd statement to make in politics. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a harsh and solid response to that.

“What kind of approach is this?” Erdoğan said. “What would you say if someone told you they approached the region as a Muslim? You must approach everyone as a human being.”

For the thirty years that Azerbaijan’s territories remained under occupation, Washington never recognized our country’s right to self-defense. Now that Azerbaijan has exercised this right and put an end to Armenia’s expansionist policy, America is rocking the boat again.

The last two weeks may have been the most peaceful time in the modern history of the South Caucasus. But while the region is moving towards peace, the US and France will not leave it alone, pursuing the militarization policy, arming Armenia and thus trying to turn this land into an armed confrontation site once again.

They are also the ideologists behind the war between Ukraine and Russia. The population of Ukraine has already dwindled to 20 million, and things continue at this rate, the future of this nation will be a big question.

Everyone will soon see what games are behind the new outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East, of the new round of the Israel-Palestine confrontation. The US is already concentrating its troops in that area.

The United States is trying to hide its own expansionist policy and its nature of an instigator behind democracy, human rights and free media slogans. Sometimes, it also paints itself as a mediator. However, all conflicts in which Washington interferes keep flaring up and growing, and have a long life…
