Silicon Canals reports that Agcurate BV, a Dutch agritech startup, has acquired Dr. Agro, a leading Azerbaijani firm specializing in agronomy, marking its strategic expansion into the Central Caucasian agricultural market.
Dr. Agro is recognized for its innovative online platform that assists farmers by integrating both traditional and precision agriculture methods. The platform, available on the web and through mobile apps for Android and iOS, offers a variety of services including budget calculation, planting schedules for over 30 crops, real-time climate data, and access to personal consultants.
Ramil Azmammadov, CEO and Co-founder of Dr. Agro, sees a bright future in this acquisition, stating, “As a pioneer in the Agtech industry in Azerbaijan, we believe this merger holds a promising future. I am grateful to everyone who supported us on this journey.”
This acquisition is part of Agcurate’s strategy to enhance its services to Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Food Companies and strengthen its foothold in new markets. With Dr. Agro’s regional expertise and extensive agronomy knowledge, Agcurate aims to provide a comprehensive overview of agricultural operations to its clients.
Founded in 2000 by Metin Emenullahi and Berk Ülker, Agcurate provides detailed agricultural intelligence, helping agribusinesses, agri-finance sectors, and governments through sophisticated platforms and APIs. These technologies analyze satellite images using proprietary AI, facilitating precise monitoring and actionable insights on agricultural investments.
Metin Emenullahi, CEO of Agcurate BV, highlighted the importance of the acquisition, saying, “This is a significant step forward as we continue to enhance our position in the agritech sector. We are excited about the opportunities this merger creates to deliver greater value to our clients and stakeholders.”
Agcurate is actively raising its pre-seed funding round after graduating from Start Life in Wageningen with support from OostNL. The company is dedicated to making agriculture more investable, sustainable, and resilient to climate change.
