He mentioned that during the inauguration ceremony held on February 14th in the Milli Majlis, President Ilham Aliyev extensively discussed Azerbaijan’s achievements and successes in both domestic and foreign policy over the past 20 years. The President presented a comprehensive report outlining the main directions and goals for the all-around development of the country and society.
Ali Asadov highlighted that the next stage and main priority would be further strengthening of defense and national security, technological advancements in the military sphere, improvement of the military-industrial complex, and ensuring the inviolability of the nation’s borders. He emphasized that the development in all areas of society, including social welfare, has always been and will continue to be a focus for the head of state. A key task for the government will be to improve the welfare of Azerbaijani citizens, including enhancing the social protection of families of martyrs and war veterans.
Asadov also stressed the importance of education for the population, particularly the youth, alongside social welfare, and noted that embracing national-spiritual values and traditions, principles of Azerbaijani identity, and mastering modern challenges and technologies will be crucial for future development amidst the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Preparing for increasing global competition in the coming years, forming a highly competitive human capital is one of the top priorities. This involves promoting modern education, a healthy society, sports, culture, and innovation. Achieving these goals requires the rapid development of a sustainable and strong economy, including the non-oil sector, to meet modern challenges and further strengthen financial independence.
The realization of these goals and a flexible response to significant challenges will be the main priorities for the Azerbaijani government in the upcoming period. The “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026,” containing national priorities up to 2030, the Great Return program to the liberated territories, and other large-scale programs provide a solid foundation for effectively continuing activities in this direction. One such priority is “Clean Environment and Green Growth Country.” It’s no coincidence that a prestigious international event like COP29 is held in our country, in the year of solidarity for a green world.
