According to the press service of the head of state, Elina Valtonen, thanking for the warm reception, first conveyed to the President of Azerbaijan the greetings of the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.
Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his own best wishes to Alexander Stubb.
During the conversation, the sides expressed satisfaction with the meetings held between the President of Azerbaijan and the President of Finland, as well as Finland’s high-level participation in the COP29 event in Baku.
Congratulating Ilham Aliyev on the progress achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, Elina Valtonen underlined the importance of these developments for restoring peace and stability within the OSCE area and for promoting regional cooperation.
The guest noted that, based on the appeal of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the activities of the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures will be terminated by December 1, 2025.
The head of state emphasized that the agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump, create favorable conditions for advancing the peace agenda.
Ilham Aliyev also touched upon the importance of the TRIPP project — to which Armenia made commitments in Washington — from the perspective of regional cooperation, noting that it would be beneficial for the entire region.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OSCE and exchanged views on the prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Finland.
