Azerbaijani state news agency “Azertaj” reported on the meeting, noting the successful cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan, especially regarding the COP29 event and the importance of the “troika” mechanism established in connection with COP29. Germany pledged continued support for Azerbaijan in relation to COP29.
President Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan initiated the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with fundamental principles that were formulated and presented by the Azerbaijani side. Based on these principles, Azerbaijan also prepared the text for the peace treaty.
The Azerbaijani head of state recounted the positive discussions held with the Prime Minister of Armenia during a meeting supported by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Munich Security Conference, focusing on delimitation and demarcation issues and advancing the peace agenda. President Aliyev also highlighted a meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, facilitated by the German Foreign Minister, where thorough discussions on the peace treaty took place.
President Aliyev announced that the next meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue the negotiations on the peace treaty would be organized in Kazakhstan at the suggestion of the Kazakh side.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier noted that Germany actively supports and will continue to support the peaceful agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
