President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made this statement on October 26 at the official opening ceremony of the Garadagh Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 230 MW, as reported by Azertag.
“These investments will enable us to save a substantial amount of natural gas, which we are currently using for electricity generation. This amounts to several billion cubic meters that will be saved for export. Azerbaijani gas is needed by Europe more than ever due to recent geopolitical changes,” said the head of state.
Emphasizing that Azerbaijan has timely put into operation a major transportation infrastructure – a 3,500 km gas pipeline from offshore fields in the Caspian Sea to Europe, Ilham Aliyev added that this will be another contribution to the energy security of an even broader region.
