President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations are built on brotherhood and conveyed congratulations to Pakistan on its victory over India. He stressed that in response to Azerbaijan’s support for Pakistan, India is attempting to retaliate against Baku on international platforms, but this “has no significance for us,” since fraternal ties stand above all else.
Prime Minister Sharif warmly recalled his visits to Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of the trilateral Azerbaijan–Turkey–Pakistan meeting in Lachin. President Aliyev, in turn, emphasized that steps are being taken to implement the agreements reached in this format.
Sharif also congratulated Aliyev on the progress in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and advancing the peace agenda, calling it a historic development. The Azerbaijani head of state thanked him for the congratulations and highlighted the importance of these achievements for ensuring lasting peace in the region.
President Aliyev underlined that his visit to Washington carries special significance for the development of Azerbaijan–U.S. relations, noting in particular the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in these processes.
The meeting also addressed the work of the Azerbaijan–Pakistan intergovernmental commission, discussing ways to develop economic and trade relations in line with the existing political partnership, and further instructions were given to the respective governments. Special attention was paid to the initiative of implementing in Pakistan a project similar to Azerbaijan’s “ASAN xidmət” model.
