As a result of agreeing to the plan, the miner is now free to restart all its operations, adding none of the measures will involve significant expenditure.
The restart will be carried out in stages and mining will recommence immediately, with the flotation plant to restart approximately 90 days before the wall of the existing tailings dam has been further raised.
This will utilise the remaining capacity of the existing tailings dam at its current height, said Anglo Asian.
Flotation will initially process ore mined from the Gedabek open pit until higher-grade ore becomes available from the new Gilar mine, which is expected to begin operation in the first half of 2024.
Fresh ore will be added to the heap leach dumps, which have remained in operation while the processing plant was shut.
Work on the development of Gilar is also being accelerated and agitation leaching will restart once the raise of the tailings dam wall is completed and high-grade ore is available from this mine.
Anglo Asian added it is collaborating with the Azerbaijani government to implement any additional measures required in response to consultant Micon’s environmental report.
Full-year 2023 production is still expected to be between 30,000 to 34,000 gold equivalent ounces, said the statement.
