President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
Ilham Aliyev noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are rooted in a long history, emphasizing that the centuries-long coexistence of the two peoples gives these ties special importance. The head of state expressed satisfaction with the recent intensification of contacts, stressing that the visit of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan, along with reciprocal visits by other high-level officials, is contributing to the further expansion of cooperation.
President Aliyev stated that the bilateral agenda is extensive and covers a wide range of areas, adding that there are concrete roadmaps for all fields of cooperation.
He highlighted the successful work of the intergovernmental commission and pointed to active collaboration in economic, trade, transport, energy, and other sectors.
The Azerbaijani leader expressed confidence that the visit of the Iranian delegation would be successful and productive.
Abbas Araghchi thanked President Aliyev for the reception and conveyed greetings from Masoud Pezeshkian. He noted that Iran’s president holds great respect for Ilham Aliyev and for Azerbaijan. Araghchi also stated that, following his election, Masoud Pezeshkian instructed the government to pay special attention to the further development of relations with Azerbaijan.
Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked that his own greetings be conveyed to Pezeshkian.
Araghchi, in turn, emphasized the deep historical roots of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and highlighted the importance of further strengthening these ties.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
