As reported by the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency, the provided forms mainly consist of records of minefields surrounding the Murovdag ridge in the Kelbajar region.
“According to the normative technical rules, the forms of minefields specify the types of mines, their quantity, distances between the installed mines, and information about the methods of installation and concealment. However, as before, the data in the latest provided forms are inaccurately and incompletely reflected. After analyzing the forms, it was established that the specified data do not match the actual minefields, and the coordinates of the points are incorrect and useless,” stated the Agency.
In general, the minefield forms provided by Armenia cover part of the territories along the former line of contact: “To date, no data have been provided about part of the former line of contact passing through the territories of the Khojavend, Tartar, and Goranboy districts, as well as about the areas mined by Armenian armed formations during their retreat in November 2020.”
The agency also reminded that the accuracy of the data provided by Armenia in 2021 about minefields in the Agdam, Fizuli, Jabrayil, and Zangilan districts was 25%. After the Second Karabakh War, 247 out of 345 victims of mine incidents died or received various injuries outside the former line of contact.
“The mass installation of mines in civilian areas constitutes a crime against humanity and a serious violation of the norms of international law,” the Agency pointed out.
