Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan “managed to convince” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to begin constitutional changes in Armenia after the parliamentary elections in 2026, reports the newspaper “Graparak,” citing a source in the ruling “Civil Contract” party.
The publication claims that “this might be why the Prime Minister instructed the Constitutional Reform Commission to present the concept of the new Constitution after the National Assembly elections in December 2026.”
Additionally, the newspaper writes that Nikol Pashinyan recently stated in a close circle that surprises are expected on the foreign policy front this fall. According to the newspaper, Pashinyan allegedly plans to move closer to Russia. “He intends to return to the fold of ‘Mother Russia’ like the ‘prodigal son,’ declaring that the EU did not accept Armenia, did not finance it properly, did not take steps in this direction, and did not provide sufficient security guarantees,” the publication notes.
