As part of the official visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Italy, an Italy-Azerbaijan roundtable was held, jointly organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO and the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria), with the support of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy Products and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the event was attended by approximately 40 entrepreneurs involved in sectors such as energy, chemical industry, automobile manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, metallurgy, construction, food production, and others, alongside officials from both countries.
Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, emphasizing the strategic nature of relations between our countries, noted that Italy is Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner. It was highlighted that Azerbaijan places great importance on strengthening multifaceted economic cooperation with Italy, resulting in many Italian companies successfully operating in various sectors of our economy, including in territories liberated from occupation.
It was emphasized that the discussions and agreements reached during the roundtable will further strengthen our relations and open new opportunities.
The Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Products Adolfo Urso and the President of the General Confederation of Italian Industry Emanuele Orsini, in their speeches, spoke about the strategic energy partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy and the potential for expanding bilateral relations in the non-oil sector.
Other speakers at the event included AZPROMO’s Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) Orkhan Mammadov, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Investment Company Ulvi Mansurov, and ADA University’s Vice-Rector Elkin Nurmammadov. They provided information on Azerbaijan’s export and investment potential, discussing mutually beneficial directions for cooperation and promising projects. Additionally, discussions were held on strengthening collaboration in key industries such as manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, transport, textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and other priority sectors, with representatives from companies from both countries sharing their views on establishing and developing business partnerships.
During the event, Memorandums of Understanding were signed between the Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO and the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria), the Italian company Dromont Comec and Mətanət A, the Italian company Leonardo Electronics and LLC Improtex Industries, and the Italian companies Visionnaire – IPA and Biesse S.P.A, and Saloğlu. These agreements cover areas such as the creation of new joint ventures and services, the implementation of research projects, and the exchange of expertise.
As part of the visit, meetings were organized between members of the Azerbaijani delegation and representatives from the Italian Trade Agency, Annatura (a company specializing in agricultural and food technologies), Scorpio Group, and the Italian agricultural company Coldiretti, where prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed.
