Azerbaijan is strengthening its position as a key player in the transportation of energy resources, while Montenegro sees itself, in the long term, as a potential energy hub between the Balkans and the European Union.
This statement was made by Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović during a joint press conference with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.
According to Ibrahimović, Montenegro’s strategic geographic location along the route of energy supplies to Europe makes cooperation with Azerbaijan particularly relevant and opens opportunities for joint infrastructure projects.
The minister also highlighted Montenegro’s significant potential in renewable energy, noting that the country enjoys more than 200 sunny days a year and has substantial hydropower resources.
Special attention was given to opportunities related to the Ionian–Adriatic Gas Pipeline, which, according to Ibrahimović, could become a strategic energy corridor connecting Azerbaijan with the western regions of Europe.
