Presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev rejected the claims as “entirely unfounded and fabricated,” stating they were part of a deliberate disinformation campaign.
“Certain media and social media accounts have recently circulated entirely unfounded and fabricated claims suggesting that Azerbaijan has recruited ethnic Azerbaijanis as agents and deployed them into Iran on behalf of Israel,” Hajiyev wrote in a statement published on the social media platform X.
Calling the allegations “absurd and fantasy-driven,” he stressed that they are completely detached from reality and serve no purpose other than to mislead.
“We categorically reject such fake news and baseless accusations,” Hajiyev added.
The Azerbaijani government has repeatedly emphasized its policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of neighboring countries, especially amid heightened regional tensions.
