“I welcome the brotherly country of Azerbaijan as a new member of D-8. Welcome,” he said.
The D-8 group was established in 1997 to promote economic cooperation among its member countries. Currently, the group’s members include Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, and Turkey. Egypt will chair the D-8 until the end of next year.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also welcomed Azerbaijan to the organization.
“With Azerbaijan’s membership in D-8, we have become even stronger,” he remarked.
