Odile Renaud-Basso congratulated President Aliyev on the successful organization of COP29, highlighting her high regard for the outcomes achieved during the event.
Discussing several ongoing projects between Azerbaijan and the EBRD, Renaud-Basso announced the bank’s approval to finance a project aimed at improving the water management system in the city of Ganja. She also provided details about credit lines allocated to support various projects within Azerbaijan’s banking sector, including those promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), women’s entrepreneurship, and sustainable development initiatives.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of projects planned in Azerbaijan, particularly in water management, transportation, and the development of Baku. The discussion also touched upon the export of green energy to Europe, related projects, and opportunities for regional cooperation with Georgia and Central Asian countries.
Following the meeting, a signing ceremony was held. The “Loan Agreement Between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Reconstruction of the Water Supply and Sewerage System in Ganja” was signed by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, and EBRD First Vice President, Jürgen Rigterink.
