In accordance with the directive from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, aimed at ensuring the liberation of the villages of Baghanis Ayrim, Ashagy Askipara, Kheyrimly, and Gyzylgadjyly in the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia signed the protocol of the 8th meeting on April 19, 2024, addressing the delimitation of the state border and border security between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
To implement the said protocol, based on geodetic measurements in the field according to the border line coordinates, clarifications were made, and a technical protocol was drawn up detailing the results of joint fieldwork, including a protocol description of the corresponding border line.
On May 15, 2024, the 9th meeting of the commissions on the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia took place, where the technical protocol was agreed upon and the respective commission protocol was signed.
As a result of the delimitation work, a border line with a length of 12.7 km was established, which ensured the return to Azerbaijan of territories (6.5 km²) of four villages in the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan: Baghanis Ayrim, Ashagy Askipara, Kheyrimly, and Gyzylgadjyly.
Today, the territories of these villages have been brought under the control of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
