The statement was made to journalists by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and chief COP29 negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev, APA reports.
“As is known, Azerbaijan acted as a mediator in helping Türkiye secure the right to host COP31. Türkiye’s hosting of the event in our region — following Azerbaijan — will increase attention to environmental issues. As a country with successful experience in this field, we offered our support to Türkiye. Türkiye is also interested. In the near future, our delegation will visit Türkiye to share its experience with the brotherly nation,” Rafiyev said.
The text of the Global Stocktake report under the Paris Agreement, transferred by Brazil to Azerbaijan, has been agreed upon, Rafiyev noted.
“Following COP30, Brazil proposed a draft decision. Agreement on the text was reached after several rounds of negotiations conducted by Azerbaijan and Norway,” he said.
