In his address, the head of state emphasized Azerbaijan’s concern over the continuation of colonialism and the strengthening of new manifestations of colonialism in the 21st century. He drew attention to the fact that France, which had occupied dozens of countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Ocean, Latin America, looted their wealth, and subjugated their peoples, committed numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity in these territories. He also expressed regret that the shameful methods of French colonialism continue today.
President Ilham Aliyev also pointed out that France is one of the countries in the world that has used the most landmines, and Azerbaijan is among the countries most affected by mine explosions.
The head of state also noted that as the Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan, he supports the peoples who are fighting against colonialism and striving to be free.
