Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan consistently supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity, despite having a strategic partnership with Russia. He expressed concern that the prolonged war in Ukraine exacerbates the situation, making regional security more unstable and unpredictable.
The president also shared his vision for conflict resolution, based on Azerbaijan’s experience. He argued that even if a ceasefire agreement is signed, it does not guarantee the end of the war, as was the case in his country in 1994. Aliyev recounted Azerbaijan’s experience, which ultimately led to the restoration of sovereignty by force after years of tensions and the lack of effective international resolutions.
In response to a question about Azerbaijan’s potential role in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, Aliyev stated that his country cannot offer a practical solution, aside from the humanitarian and financial support already provided to Ukraine, amounting to more than 30 million euros.
