This statement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to comments from U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brien.
“As for the postponement by the American side of U.S.-initiated bilateral meetings and high-level contacts with regard to Azerbaijan, as well as the statement that ‘our bilateral relations cannot be as they were before,’ it should be noted that relations cannot be one-sided. Thus, the same approach will equally be applied by Azerbaijan. In such a situation, we consider it inappropriate to allow the possibility of high-level U.S. visits to Azerbaijan,” the statement said.
