Biden renominated Libby on Tuesday as the new session of Congress began. He was one of 85 candidates renominated by the White House, out of some 175 candidates not confirmed in the previous session of Congress.
Libby, currently a Faculty Advisor for the United States Department of State at the National War College in Washington, D.C., was nominated to be the ambassador to Azerbaijan on May 25, 2022. However, so far he has not been invited to a confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Armenian lobbyist Bob Menendez.
Libby served as deputy ambassador of the United States to the European Union, and as a political advisor at the US diplomatic missions in Warsaw, Nicosia, and Baghdad.
In Washington D.C., he served as deputy director for Crisis Management in the State Department Operations Center, deputy director in the Office of Central European Affairs, Director of the Office of Southern European Affairs.
