During the session, country reports on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights will be reviewed for Ecuador, France, Greece, Iceland, Pakistan, and Turkey, according to APA.
According to the Covenant, countries that have joined the document are required, in accordance with the UN Charter, to uphold and respect the right to self-determination of peoples living in territories that they effectively colonize. France is among the leading states currently pursuing policies of colonialism and neo-colonialism.
The Baku Initiative Group has submitted an alternative report to the UN Human Rights Committee exposing France’s colonial policies. The report is published on the UN Human Rights Committee’s website and can be accessed via the provided link.
France’s country report is scheduled to be reviewed by the Human Rights Committee on October 22-23 of this year.
