Former deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma from “United Russia”, political analyst, and historian Dmitry Chernyshevsky commented on his YouTube channel about the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. According to him, as reported by Aze.Media, this could be followed by even more radical events.
“A historic event has occurred in the South Caucasus. Russian troops have begun retreating from Karabakh.
Russia is leaving the South Caucasus forever. Russian troops first appeared there in 1813, and now in 2024, they are departing. This process is irreversible,” he believes.
“Azerbaijan has long been independent from Russia. Armenia is emerging from under Russian tutelage. In Georgia, the prospects of a pro-Russian government seem increasingly doubtful. Russia has already lost the South Caucasus in fact, and I think it will lose the North Caucasus next. The Caucasus will become free. That is the significance of what is happening in Karabakh,” noted the expert.
