Departing from the Beijing International Land Port in Fangshan District, the train is part of the broader China-Europe freight network and operates via a “rail-sea-rail” multimodal transport system. The shipment will transit through Kazakhstan and cross the Caspian Sea by vessel before reaching its final destination in Baku. The entire journey is expected to take approximately 15 days.
This new route enhances connectivity along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and is part of China’s efforts to diversify logistics chains under the Belt and Road Initiative. By linking East Asia with the South Caucasus and beyond, it offers an alternative to traditional overland and maritime trade routes and reduces transportation time compared to existing options.
The launch is expected to deepen economic and logistical cooperation between China and Azerbaijan, further integrating Baku into the growing network of China-Europe rail freight services.
