The event, originally scheduled for November 3–6 in the Azerbaijani capital, was expected to bring together around 600 participants from Europe, Israel, the United States, and other countries. According to Ynetnews, Chief Rabbis David Yosef and Kalman Ber, as well as Israeli ministers Amichai Chikli and Amichai Eliyahu, were slated to attend.
Organizers noted that the meeting in Baku would have been the first major conference of European rabbis to take place in a Muslim country — serving as an example of interfaith cooperation.
No reasons for the cancellation or possible rescheduling have been disclosed.
