Today, a farewell ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku for the crew members of an Embraer-190 aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), who tragically lost their lives while operating flight J2-8243 from Baku to Grozny. The bodies of Captain Igor Kshnyakin, First Officer Alexander Kalyaninov, and Flight Attendant Hokuma Aliyeva were transported from Kazakhstan to Baku.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony, offering condolences to the families of the deceased. The event was also attended by family members, government officials, public representatives, and AZAL staff.
After the farewell ceremony, the bodies of the fallen crew members were taken to the Second Alley of Honor, where they will be laid to rest.
The loss of the crew members is a tragic blow to the nation. They carried out their duties to the very end, becoming symbols of bravery and dedication to their profession. Azerbaijan mourns alongside their families.
