This was stated in the information released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the decision of the International Court.
“The International Court also rejected Armenia’s unfounded and absurd request to withdraw all military and law enforcement personnel of Azerbaijan from the Karabakh region.
The measures mentioned by the court align with the already declared policy of the Azerbaijani government towards the Armenian residents of Karabakh.
This includes our commitment to ensure the safety of all residents, regardless of their national or ethnic origins. Azerbaijan has never expelled Armenian residents from Karabakh, and their decision to move to Armenia and other countries was voluntary, despite Azerbaijan’s calls not to leave Karabakh. Azerbaijan adheres to its Constitution and strives to protect the rights of the Armenian residents of Karabakh equally with other Azerbaijani citizens in accordance with its respective international obligations. The fact that the court did not require any actions on Armenia’s request for assistance in facilitating UN agency visits to the Karabakh region and cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) acknowledges Azerbaijan’s openness and cooperation in this field. This makes all accusations against our country essentially baseless. Azerbaijan protects personal property, cultural monuments, artifacts, and registration documents in accordance with national legislation and international obligations. Thus, the fact that the court does not mention these areas is simultaneously a confirmation of the measures taken by Azerbaijan,” the information emphasized.
The information also notes that Azerbaijan takes its obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination seriously.
“We remain committed to protecting these obligations and the rights of all people under international law, and we are focused on building a peaceful and prosperous region,” the statement said.
“The court also did not satisfy Armenia’s claim regarding Azerbaijan’s investigative actions against individuals associated with the illegal separatist regime, detained on charges of military aggression, incitement to separatism, terrorist acts, etc., in accordance with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan expects Armenia and all other parties to cease interference in lawful investigative actions,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement concluded.
