Victor Maamaatuaiahutapu, the Secretary General of the Tavini Huiraatira party, expressed this need at the conference “The Right to Decolonization of French Polynesia – Challenges and Prospects” in the Milli Majlis.
Maamaatuaiahutapu noted that a delegation from French Polynesia had arrived in Azerbaijan with a request for assistance. “We are a politically young nation, and we need the support of Azerbaijan. We believe that you will help us, and justice will prevail,” he said.
According to him, Polynesia remains isolated due to the colonization policy conducted by France.
He also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for the conditions provided and called for help: “We are isolated by France’s will. Because France wants to continue nuclear testing on our territories. We believe that you will carry our voice to the international community and help us. We are a nation that has existed for millennia, but politically we are young. We want justice to finally prevail.”
