At the meeting, the parties approved their 2022 Action Plan, which involves measures to increase the awareness of the project, and questions of service of new transit cargo, the Georgian railroad company said.
Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure who opened the meeting, said the demand for the Middle Corridor was “quite large” due to the worldwide geopolitical situation following economic sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
Georgian Railway also said the Turkish official had called on the parties of the Route to work in coordination, and expressed “full support” from Turkey for the “uninterrupted service” of the growing volumes over the regional transport direction.
Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kazakhstan signed a quadrilateral declaration on the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor in March, aiming to strengthen the transit potential of the signatory states.
