As previously reported, the incident caused significant dissatisfaction in Baku. Immediately afterward, prompt communication was established between the presidential administrations and foreign ministries of both countries. The German side acknowledged that the post had been published by mistake and promptly removed it.
A letter of apology was sent to Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, on behalf of the Head of the Office of the President of Germany, State Secretary Dörte Dinger. The document expressed regret over the incident and emphasized that the post resulted from a technical error.
The letter stated that the post does not reflect Germany’s official position, which consistently supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. It also highlighted that the upcoming visit of the German President to Azerbaijan is aimed at strengthening bilateral partnership and supporting the peace process in the region.
The German side has agreed to allow the content of the letter to be made public through the media.
