Hajiyev noted that during the meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit held in Samarkand, strategic tasks related to achieving a qualitatively new level of relations between the two countries and identifying new directions for cooperation were set. Currently, the ties between the two countries have developed comprehensively in this direction. Overall, the comprehensive development of relations, further deepening of relations with the People’s Republic of China, and achieving a qualitatively new level are marked as one of the priority directions.
The President’s Assistant said, “During the visit, we discussed with our Chinese colleagues the development of relations between the two countries, primarily conducting political consultations, expanding trade and economic ties, as well as cooperation in the context of the ‘Middle Corridor.’ The Middle Corridor has once again confirmed its importance in transportation and the development of trade and economic relations at the international level. The Chinese side also shows great interest in this project.”
Reminding that Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) this year, Hikmet Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan and China are developing countries representing the Global South. China has significant experience in the field of “green energy.” Comprehensive discussions were held on these issues during the meetings in Beijing.
The official representative of the Presidential Administration said that Azerbaijan and China, having close ties, support each other within international organizations.
