This statement was made by the head of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS) and Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons, Ali Naghiyev, during a meeting with Kathryne Bomberger, Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
According to Naghiyev, the tasks assigned to the commission regarding the search for missing compatriots remain under the constant supervision of President Ilham Aliyev.
“Work is underway to identify and exhume mass graves of victims of the Karabakh conflict, as well as to identify the discovered remains. Unfortunately, Armenia continues to maintain an unconstructive position and shows no intention of cooperating in clarifying the fate of the missing persons,” Naghiyev stated.
Kathryne Bomberger emphasized that significant work has been accomplished in collaboration with the State Commission, and joint efforts will contribute substantially to further strengthening ties between the two institutions.
The parties also held extensive discussions on other matters of mutual interest related to the urgent resolution of the missing persons issue.
