According to Amirbayov, if European countries cannot assist in this matter, Azerbaijan expects them at least not to hinder the process. The presidential representative pointed out that the European Union is not a unified structure, and the positions of individual EU countries negatively impact the process of achieving long-term peace in the South Caucasus.
“We would like to appeal to the EU countries to support Azerbaijan’s aspiration to finalize the peace process and agree on peace with Armenia as soon as possible. This will allow us to turn the page on hostility and enable the entire South Caucasus to start living a normal life, where all three countries will become good neighbors. We would also like to ask to refrain from any actions and statements that could damage this perspective. Unfortunately, the European Union is not entirely a unified structure, and we see how the positions of individual countries negatively affect the process of achieving long-term, fair peace in the South Caucasus,” said the Azerbaijani President’s representative.
