In the article, published by the state-run IRNA news agency, Velayati shares his views on the historical relations between the peoples of Iran and Azerbaijan.
He points out that the Azerbaijani people are pushing their country forward and emphasizes the need to accomplish the objectives set to establish peace and tranquility in the region.
Velayati also rules out the possibility of war between Azerbaijan and Iran.
“Since the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic Republic of Iran has not attacked any of the 15 neighboring countries and will not initiate wars. I firmly believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran not only defends its own interests and security, but also the interests and security of neighboring countries in the region and considers it one of its regional responsibilities.
“Iran will deal with anything that jeopardizes the security of the region, and we make it clear that the dreams of some countries of false identity, such as the Zionist regime, and expansionist nature, such as the United States, will remain dreams, and there will be no war between the two countries,” he stresses.
