Unfortunately, this decision was initiated by a member of the German parliament, who is also a member of the party led by Chancellor Scholz. Isn’t this a case of double standards or playing games with us?! The Chancellor of Germany demonstrates impartiality, and his statements and actions reflect this. However, a member of the party he leads wants to sideline Azerbaijan, one of the two non-Christian countries in PACE, doing so demonstratively and purposefully. President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks while receiving a delegation from the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.
The head of state reminded that Azerbaijan had decided not to participate in the sessions of PACE.
“Because if we do not have the right to express our position, then why should we be there?” Ilham Aliyev stated.
He emphasized that if the rights of our delegation are not restored within a year, Azerbaijan may seriously consider the issue of completely leaving the Council of Europe.
