“We have always paid great attention to the requests of our partners in Europe. Bilateral cooperation in the energy sector is very important to us, and I hope that this practical cooperation will lead to interaction in other areas as well,” said the head of the Azerbaijani state.
Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is currently exporting natural gas to 12 countries, with the geographic distribution of its clients spanning the Eurasian region.
Emphasizing that ten out of these twelve countries are European, the head of state said: “Last year, Azerbaijan exported 25 billion cubic meters of gas to foreign markets. Of course, we produce significantly more than that.”
Stating that Europe needs Azerbaijani gas, Ilham Aliyev pointed out that a clear demonstration of this is the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Energy Partnership signed in Baku approximately three years ago between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
