This was stated in the address by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, directed to the participants of the conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku on the topic of “Advancing Women’s Rights and Expanding Women’s Opportunities.”
Acknowledging that colonialism has had a negative impact on women’s rights, the head of state welcomed the parallel event on the relevant theme being held alongside the conference.
“Protecting women’s rights and enhancing their role in society are of great importance on the agenda of the Non-Aligned Movement. In the documents adopted by the movement, including the final document of the Baku Summit in 2019, special attention was given to this topic, and the responsibilities of member states in this area were defined,” the address emphasized.
