Speaking at the meeting, Hikmet Hajiyev emphasized that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces strictly adhered to international humanitarian law and avoided collateral damage during the counter-terrorism operations that lasted 23 hours and 51 minutes.
Hajiyev noted that, according to the acknowledgment of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan himself, no civilians were harmed, and expressed bewilderment regarding the unfounded statements by representatives of the EU, France, and Germany.
Among other statements by Hajiyev:
• Azerbaijan ensures all conditions for the delivery of medicines, food and other goods by the ICRC via the Lachin – Khankendi and Agdam – Khankendi routes.
• Azerbaijan is ready to provide medical assistance to wounded servicemen of Armenian origin or assist them through the ICRC.
• Medical vehicles can be directed for medical evacuation from Armenia.
• Cooperation is being conducted with Russian peacekeepers in collecting the bodies of fallen Karabakh militants.
• Azerbaijan supports the acceptance of additional staff from the ICRC office in Geneva, as well as the dispatch of personnel for the Baku office to Khankendi.
• Azerbaijan guarantees the safety of all civilians traveling on the Khankendi – Lachin road.
• Militants who voluntarily surrender their weapons will be released.
• Azerbaijani army and civilian personnel assist and will continue to assist the local population.
